Street Art by Efix, by Valentin

Here are two street-arts of the French artist Efix. He uses urban elements for his art. Efix represents frequently the Simpsons’ characters because he thinks that they embody overconsumption society and some stereotypes of the middle classes.

The first Efix’s work, name “Lisa sax” uses a pipe to represent a saxophone. Lisa, the Simpsons’ family daughter, plays the saxophone so it is a nod to the American cartoon. Moreover, this is a period dedicated to the ecology and particularly to the recycling by “Millennials” generation     (X generation).

The second picture is a representation of Homer, the father, inside a narrow cell. We can imagine that he has been put in jail because he looks different as the obesity is one of hidden stereotypes on the cartoon by producers.

Finally, this artist wants to show to passers-by an art who denounces some harmful actions of the current society.

Bonjour!!

Je m'appelle Andrés et j'aime ces photos! I found this art really interesting since the artist is using these spaces from the street to give a certain message and also using "well-known" characters like the Simpson (Lisa and Homer). Actually, here in Monterrey we also have street art with characters!!

Merci de partager les deux photos!!
I really love the usage of the space in the street and the picture of such popular cartoons as a way to convey an unconventional (or simple) message through a mundane view of the world. With this art i can see it speaking in a language everybody around the world can understand of a message that is important and can be sometimes ignored, as seen on the Homer art.

Not being so serious, the usage of piping and other things on the space really shows creativity, these things can be often see as limitations, someone may simply choose another wall just to not deal with it, but i find incorporating these elements to the art piece is very fun and creative!

Overall i love the duality that this artist can express with the space, from something fun and silly, to something deep and meaningful. Both of them creative and advantageous of the space by not being afraid of it.

I love the incorporation of cartoons in street art because i think a lot of people fill identified with them and it will be easier to understand the message the art is trying to display.

Overall i think the incorporation of cartoons or known figures to the world in street art can help people identify more clearly the message is trying to display.

Very beautiful art displayed in the blog.

Bonjour! I am Liz from prepa UDEM and I loved the art works you shared! I found both pictures very interesting mostly because of the use of cartoon characters; I really admire the way this artist tries to leave a message on society with his art, and I am sure many people get curious and try to understand what they see. In this case, I am sure the use of cartoon characters attracted even more the attention of people, just like it did with me. Without a doubt this artist is very ingenious and is already causing an impact within society; it makes me happy to know that this impact is being caused by doing something the artist loves.
