"Chut !" / Jef Aerosol, By Mazarine and Marie-Lou

"Chut !" / Jef Aerosol / Paris (France)

 Mazarine

This work is a work of street art by Jef Aérosol who is a french street artist. Jef Aérosol is part of the first generation of french street artists. This work is located in the 4th district of Paris, on one of the walls of the town hall, close to the Pompidou Center and the Saint-Merri church.

I find this work very impressive, it is big, very expressive and a little creepy (I think that a big eye on a wall is screepy…).

What is painted is the face of the artist with his finger on his mouth like when you ask people to stop talking. Below his eye, there is a red arrow : that’s the signature of Jef Aérosol on his works. We can see a ring around the middle finger of the artist. Finally, In the foreground, there is a color explosion.

We may think that the goal of this fresco is to ask the silence, the calm and listening on the square. Maybe in order to observe the work of the artist during a little time. That’s why the title is

« Chuuuuttt !!! »

Moreover, colors in the foreground refer to ther others works on the square and their colors.

At the beginning, it was to be an ephemere work, but finally it’s still there. In 2018, the artist come again to refresh the work with a brush. Now, it is a important painting is Paris.

 Marie-Lou

This graffiti was made by Jef Aérosol in 2011. The title is « Chut ».

On this picture we can see the face of a man making the gesture to be silent.

On the left-hand corner we can see a red arrow that immediately attracts our attention.

Another surprising thing is the contrast of the bright colors on the right-hand side compared to the dark colors (black and white) of the portrait.

The look of the man drawn is really intriguing. Indeed the look that accompanies the gesture he is doing is really realistic.

It really makes us want to speak less loudly, as if he was hiding something behind the wall.

That why I really like this graffiti, because of its realism and its aestheticism. It’s even hypnotizing !

Thanks for sharing! If you ask me, I think this piece of art is truly original and humorous (yes, a little creepy but something about it makes me smile).

"Chuuuuuttt", is a very creative name for a work of art, and I could notice some language varier, if the same street art was located here, in Mexico, it would probably be called "Shhhh".

I love to get to know about the artist and to know that he paints a little red arrow in all of his paintings, is a little fact that called my attention.

I am very curious so I would like to know if the man in the painting is someone real or just a product from the imagination of the artist.

Finally, I would just like to thank you for sharing!

Hello! Thanks for your comment!

I'm glad you love this artwork. I agree, this work makes me smile too. Maybe we find that a big face on a wall saying "Shhh" is funny!

And yes the little red arrow is in all his paintings : you can check in "La petite liseuse" or "Three men". The meaning of it is still a mystery! I find this fact very interesting.

And to answer you, the man in the painting is the artist! He paints himself on the wall.

I'm very happy to have taught you something !

Au revoir :)
